About me

I completed my 200 hour teacher training in vinyasa*, hatha** and foundational ashtanga*** yoga in November 2023 at Drishti Yoga International in Goa, India.

Prior to my teacher training, I practised yoga for over 10 years, exploring a variety of styles and learning from a mix of teachers and studios. Whilst my practice has varied over the years there are three key elements that keep me coming back to the mat:

A moving meditation – for me yoga acts as a form of moving meditation. Whilst practising I am challenged to focus on the breath, the pose and the moment. This helps me to connect and to calm the body and the mind.

An opportunity for fun and play – the physical practice also offers me the opportunity to play and try new things. I enjoy experimenting with new poses that challenge my strength, balance and flexibility.

A moment of self-care and reflection – finally yoga is something I do to care for myself. It provides a space to step back and reflect on how I am feeling, both physically and mentally.

These three elements form the basis of my classes and offerings as a teacher.

*vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga which focuses on creating a ‘flow’ sequence of yoga poses. The breath is used to connect each pose to the next.

**hatha yoga is a slower paced practice. We spend longer in the poses and we also typically practice pranayama (breathing exercises).

***ashtanga yoga is style of yoga popularised by Pattabhi Jois. It involves practicing the same set series of postures each time.
